Patrick Bury, 29, is a former lieutenant and infantry commander with the 1st Royal Irish. His powerful and moving account of a British Army Captain's experiences fighting alongside the Paras in Helmand Province was hailed by critics as being the first great book to come out of the Afghan War and has been shortlisted for the British Army Military Book of the Year Award 2011.
