Sally has been a full time writer for television, radio and theatre for over twenty years. She has a wide range of experience, covering many genres, including contemporary, historical and political drama, and children’s television. She was a regular writer on the TV police series, The Bill, scripting over twenty-five episodes including a New Year’s Eve Special. In 2008, her stage play, Sanctuary, was short-listed for the Bruntwood/Royal Exchange theatre award. She has just been commissioned by Weldon Owen (Australia) to write a book exploring extraordinary fashions through the ages and the insights they offer into the zeitgeist of the time.
In children’s television, she wrote episodes of CBBC’s BAFTA-winning Pig Heart Boy and received BAFTA and Royal Television Society nominations for her own original Victorian mystery drama Shadowplay. Her plays for radio include Chekhov in My Life with Janet Suzman and Examination Day with Bill Nighy for Pier Productions. A four part adaptation of Ronald Knox-Mawer’s Tales of a Man Called Father with Kenneth Cranham were produced by Forge Productions. She began contributing to The Archers in January 2011.
